If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m not just an author: I’m also an avid fan of video games. I play anything from tactical shooters to fantasy RPGs and I enjoy every single game I buy and play.
I write articles for a digital newspaper called The DZSH Group, so you can go check out all of my individual video game reviews there. You can also check out my YouTube where I talk about video games as well. And I post in-game photography on my gaming Instagram. Oh, did I also mention that I make videos about gaming-related topics on TikTok? Yeah, I think you get it at this point…
In any case, when I was first trying to decide what peripherals I wanted for my gaming setup, I wasn’t sure what to pick. However, I decided to throw my hat in the ring and got some products from Razer.
What is Razer?
Razer is like the Apple of the gaming world–at least, that’s what people say. It’s one of the most well-known gaming-specific brands out there and sells anything from keyboards to mice to–I kid you not–gamer chewing gum. There’s more stuff on their website, but I feel like gum for gamers is probably the weirdest I’ve seen yet. Or coolest. I guess it depends on what your point of view is.
Razer makes lots of different and great products that are definitely made for many aesthetics. From pink to black to white, you can pretty much find anything for your setup. I personally like black peripherals since my setup was made to be red and black.
What Razer products do I recommend?
I’ve used quite a few in my lifetime, so I have an idea of what’s best for anyone to use. Now, it depends on your wants, but I’ll break it down by each item that I’ve used:
Keyboards
There are a few things that I value when it comes to keyboards: Speed, aesthetic, lifetime, and RGB. Lots and lots and lots of RGB. I’m just kidding, but RGB does add another flair to peripherals, especially if you’re working or gaming late at night.
I use the Razer Huntsman keyboard, which is honestly one of the best keyboards I’ve ever touched. Now, it doesn’t necessarily have that satisfying “thonk” sound that some mechanical keyboards have, but I’m usually wearing noise-canceling headphones, so I can’t even hear the keys half the time anyways.
The Razer Huntsman keyboard uses opto-mechanical switches. These switches were made to be fast and use infrared lights to actuate keystrokes, allowing for accurate and speedy typing experiences. They’re also known as red switches or purple switches, depending on what Huntsman model you get.

I can easily go above 100+ wpm on this keyboard, which is one of the reasons why I use it so much. I mean, those novels I write have to get done sometime, right? Also, it does help a lot when you’re playing video games. There’s no lag between the key click and the character in the game. It’s convienent and great for sure.
Mice
When it comes to mice, I can’t use anything but gaming mice anymore. I used to use your standard office mice, but honestly, after making the switch to gaming peripherals, I can’t go back. Gaming mice are genuinely superior, and I’m not saying this for nothing. Gaming mice have better clicks, better response times, and work in both work and gaming scenarios.
Razer’s gaming mice can also look very aesthetically pleasing for anyone who values that. They have white gaming mice, pink gaming mice, black gaming mice, and they even have productivity mice. Productivity products are a bit different than gaming, but I personally don’t use them since I’m big on gaming (please do not ask about the backed up library of games I have on my laptop and Xbox. There’s too many and I keep buying more. It’s become an issue, I believe).
Basically, I look for the mouse to have programmable switches so that I can make my life easier. For example, I can flip pages on my screen using the switches on the mouse. I also look for Bluetooth mice for when I’m out of the house. I have two mice: One Bluetooth and one wired (the wired one is Logitech).
The Razer Mamba wireless mouse is really nice and it clicks well. I use it in all my on-the-go work and I game with it frequently if I’m not at my desk. It’s a great mouse and it’s lasted me years now without being damaged.
What about Razer’s laptops?
I personally don’t own a laptop from Razer. Mine is an MSi. However, my brother has a Razer laptop and it’s a very good machine. I’ve used it before and honestly, it’s very nice. He’s never complained about it before and he’s had nothing but positive experiences with it.
He chose it at the time because it matched the look he wanted out of a laptop. One of the nice things about Razer’s laptops is that they’re not the flashy, “gamery” type that many think of when they hear “gaming laptop.” Razer’s are sleek and have a stealth look to them. I feel like the most “gamery” I can think of is Alienware, but Razer’s laptops don’t look that intense.
I think that for professionals and students, stealth laptops are great because they give you the power of a gaming machine but have the sleekness of a standard laptop.
Razer’s got some great products that I really like. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Razer and I would most certainly recommend them to anyone looking for new computers and related accessories.
Happy gaming/typing/working whatever it is that you’re doing.
